Miss Lou is an art initiative by Annie Broderick, created to reimagine the feminine through art and inspire intuitive power in present and future generations.

Process:
Annie came to me with a heartfelt vision—not just to build an art brand, but to create a container for collaborative inspiration. Miss Lou would be a home for bringing others into her work.

The name Miss Lou comes from one of Annie’s lifelong heroines, a family friend remembered for her strength, joy, and nurturing presence. She became the spirit and namesake of the project, representing both the boldness and care Annie seeks to celebrate through her work.

The typography and logos reflect the contrasts found in Annie’s practice: softness and strength, tradition and experimentation, subtlety and boldness. The logomark was inspired by the celebrated quilts of Gee’s Bend and constructed like a miniature composition, containing the forms of an M and L.

Print collateral included an invitation for Annie’s 2022 exhibition Soulskins: Fit for Kindred Queens, the inaugural Miss Lou collection.

You can explore past collections, participate in Annie’s ongoing work, or browse her heirloom-centered shop at misslou.art.
