Matcha Date — Series I

Originally envisioned to live inside a wide mat in a standard 8x10 frame, this small A7 print can be displayed just about any way you like. It arrives mounted with photo corners on a 5x7 black mat board—ready to frame, or easily removed for framing with a larger mat board.
Printed on sustainably produced 100% hemp paper, the design features black foil stamping and embossing. Printed locally by a small press in San Francisco, each print is unique, with varied markings. All materials are archival quality.

Series I‍

A collection of eight pieces, originally created during a time when I lived in England and discovered a new way of seeing. I had never considered myself an artist, but that season cultivated seeing the ordinary in a new light, and eventually, an urge to create and share what I found.
Maybe it’s my personality, or evolutionary bias, but my usual outlook was to seek obvious beauty and good over the insignificant. And maybe I was under the influence of Mary Oliver, or the residual magic fungi from a trip to the Netherlands, but seemingly by accident, I began to see more and more through the lens of wonder, of awe. The most mundane, the most ordinary, sometimes the most sad, suddenly felt worthy of my unconditional attention.
This new practice was, and has been, a rediscovering of how to see my world with choice—a shift in perception. This series is a distillation of that new way of seeing, translated into shape, line, and space.
